This product is a colorless, flammable liquid that is almost insoluble in water (solubility at 20°C: 0.11 g/L) and is miscible with most organic solvents, such as ethanol and diethyl ether.
Main uses
1. Organic synthesis raw materials: As a butylating agent, it is used in the synthesis of dibutyl aluminum laurate, butyl cellulose, and other compounds; it also serves as a key raw material for the preparation of the fungicides cyproconazole and imazalil.
2. Pharmaceutical Industry: It is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of animal anthelmintics and drugs such as phenylbutazone.
3. Solvent Applications: It is suitable for dissolving oils, fats, rubber, natural resins, and the like; it can also be used as a dewaxing agent.
4. Other fields: It is used as an additive in ethylene polymerization catalysts and as a reaction medium in organic synthesis.
